Pro Sound Meter — iOS
Last updated: 12 August 2026 · Operated by VELTORA LLC
Your sound never leaves your iPhone. Microphone audio, every measured level, your saved sessions and any audio you choose to record are processed and stored on your device. They are never uploaded to us, never sent to an advertising network and never used for analytics — on either the free or the paid tier.
The free version shows advertising through Google AdMob. If you allow tracking when iOS asks, those ads are personalised using your device's advertising identifier; if you refuse, they are shown without it. Buying Pro Sound Meter Premium turns advertising off entirely: the ad code is never started, your advertising identifier is never read, and nothing is collected at all.
Pro Sound Meter is published by VELTORA LLC ("we", "us"). For anything in this policy, including any request about your data, write to prosoundmeter@veltora.biz. For users in the EEA and the UK, VELTORA LLC is the data controller for the limited advertising data described below.
Recordings are deliberately excluded from iCloud backup, so raw audio does not leave the device by that route either. The trade-off is that recordings do not transfer to a new iPhone. Deleting a session deletes its recording.
We have no servers, no accounts and no login. There is nowhere for us to store your measurements even if we wanted to.
The free version is supported by advertising served through Google AdMob. To show and measure an ad, the ad network processes a limited set of technical data:
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), only where you have allowed tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt | Personalising the ads you see, measuring them, and preventing fraud |
| Where you refuse tracking: no advertising identifier at all — iOS withholds it, and Google serves ads without personalisation | Frequency capping and fraud prevention only |
| IP address, and the approximate country or region derived from it | Serving ads that are legal and relevant in your region |
| Device type, operating system version, screen size, language | Rendering the ad correctly |
| Ad interaction events (an ad was shown, tapped or closed) | Reporting and billing |
We never send the ad network your microphone audio, your measurements, your sessions, your notes or your precise location. The app does not request location access at all, and no advertising is shown on the microphone-permission, calibration or microphone-check screens.
Google acts as an independent controller for this data. Google's own policy and controls are at business.safety.google/privacy and policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Before any ad loads, the app shows a consent form provided by Google's certified consent management platform. You may accept or refuse, and you may change your mind at any time in Settings → Privacy → Manage advertising choices. Refusing costs you nothing: the whole app, including every professional measurement feature, stays available.
Where consent is not legally required, you are still shown, before the first ad, a plain explanation of what is shared, with the same opt-out control in Settings. Residents of US states with applicable privacy laws may opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information using that same control, or by writing to us.
Before any personalised ad is requested, iOS asks whether you allow tracking. You may refuse, and refusing changes nothing about the app: every measurement feature stays available, ads simply stop being personalised. You can change the answer at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Premium never asks at all.
Because personalised advertising involves linking your advertising identifier with data from other apps and websites, the App Store listing declares this app as using data to track you. That declaration applies to the free version; on Premium none of it happens.
Pro Sound Meter Premium is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details. The app asks Apple whether a valid purchase exists and stores the yes/no answer locally.
On Premium the advertising code is never initialised. No ad request, no consent form, no identifiers, no network calls beyond the purchase check Apple performs.
Pro Sound Meter is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Anything on your device stays until you delete it — delete a session and its data and audio go with it; delete the app and everything goes. Advertising data is retained by Google according to its own policy; we hold no copy.
Because measurements never reach us, most access and deletion requests are satisfied directly on your device. For the advertising data described in section 3, or for any question, write to prosoundmeter@veltora.biz and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, and the right to complain to your data-protection authority.
Separate from privacy, and stated plainly: Pro Sound Meter gives a useful estimate, not a certified measurement. It is not a Type 1 or Type 2 sound level meter, and readings vary with your device, its case and the microphone in use. Use certified equipment where a regulation or legal standard requires it.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects what is collected, tell you in the app before it takes effect.
